I'm surprised no one suggested putting a plaque up in acknowledgement of all those black stars. At least you excelled at something. Plus it's given you something to write about! Your 'donut' experience reminded me of a friend who'd been at boarding school in S. Africa and organised a midnight feast where the girls ate little blobs of tooth-paste on toast confiscated from breakfast which they'd kept in their gymslip pockets all day.
